Water System

The goal of the City of Barnwell is to provide its customers with high quality, safe drinking water that exceeds every federal and state standard. The city has the capacity of distributing up to 750,000 gallons of water. This water is distributed through Barnwell's waterworks system which is comprised approximately of 2400 residential, and commercial customers.

Wastewater System

The Wastewater system for the City of Barnwell consists of the Wastewater Treatment Facility and 6 lift stations. The Wastewater Treatment Facility is a conventional activated sludge treatment facility designed to meet federal and state regulations. In 2002, the city spent over $6.7 million on an upgrade of the Wastewater Treatment Plant which increased the capacity for treatment to 3.0 (mgd) million gallons per day. At present, the plant treats approximately 1.2 million gallons per day, leaving 1.8 million gallons available. Commercial waste counts for about 40% of all treated waste.

PAST DUE POLICY

Each monthly bill shall become due and payable on or before the 15th day of each month. A 10% penalty will be added if not paid by the 15th day of each month. If not paid by the 10th day of the following monthservice will be discontinued WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE and a nonpayment fee of $30.00 will be added to the account. Service will remain discontinued until all bills in arrears, including the ten percent penalty and nonpayment fee, are paid.

PAST DUE LETTERS WILL NOT BE SENT.
