City Hall Project
The City of Barnwell has purchased the old First Citizens Building on the Barnwell circle for its new City Hall. This 100 plus year old Historic building will be renovated with the help of Virgo-Gambill Architects. Work is expected to begin in August of 2008 and be complete by Spring of 2009.
The Building will be able to house all of the City's Administrative Staff, Recreation, and Tourism and Community Development. The building will be user friendly allowing for customer parking in the rear and provide a drive through window for expedited bill paying.
The City of Barnwell received 4 bids on the renovation of the old bank building ranging from $1,461,000 to $1, 620,000. The low bid came from Query-Pritchard of Barnwell. City Council awarded the contract at the Special Called meeting on August 19th. Notice to proceed was given on the 20th. Contract signing will be the week of the 25th and the company will mobilize the week of September 1st.
