Summary Full-time Position: Perform a variety of technical and administrative work in fire prevention, fire suppression, and medical first responder operations to prevent or minimize the loss of life and property by fire and emergency medical conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Fire and Medical First Responder operations.
Follows policies and procedures for Fire Department operations in order to implement directives from the Fire Chief.
Responds to alarms and may direct activities at the scene of emergencies, as required.
Participates in the departmental in-service training activities.
Interacts with other Fire/EMS officials, community and business representatives and the public on all aspects of the Department's activities.
Education and/or Experience
High school graduation with related experience. Preferably some hours of credits earned in an accredited university, college, or technical school in a related field combined with satisfactory performance in a role involving firefighting. Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university is a plus.

Job Title: Patrol Officer
Department: Police
Reports To: Police Chief or Designee
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Summary Full-time Position: Respond to and Investigate criminal acts as a first responding officer. Patrol their assigned jurisdiction/zone to reduce overall criminal activity.
Secure crime scenes and preserve evidence for further investigation by themselves or responding Detectives. Maintain knowledge of federal and state statutes and court cases related to work performed and agency rules and regulations. Performs other duties as directed by the Chief or his designee. Conducts traffic enforcement operations. Makes decisions related to Patrol Division Shift activities that are legal, moral, and ethical; being in compliance with State Law, Federal Constitution, and Departmental Policy.
Education and/or Experience
Must be, or have the ability to obtain, a Class I certified Law Enforcement Officer certified through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy within one (1) year of beginning employment. If candidate is not a certified officer, then he/she must also pass a reading comprehension test and a physical abilities test.

Job Title: Parks and Recreation Laborer
Department: Parks and Recreation
Reports To: Department Director
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Summary Full-time Position
Performs semi-skilled work in the care and maintenance of parks, playing fields, and other landscaped and recreation areas; performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair of park facilities. Provides a variety of recreational activities program support in assigned locations. Work is performed under the direction of the Director and/or supervisor of Parks and Recreation.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to run machines such as weed-eaters, lawn mowers and other similar type of equipment. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Valid Driver’s License required. Other certificates in related fields is a plus. Employment is contingent upon background investigation as well as the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Summary Full-time Position: Plans, promotes, organizes, and administers public recreation services and maintenance of city parks for entire community, under policies established by The City of Barnwell by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.
Education/Experience:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or closely related field and at least three years of professional experience in parks and recreation management; or any equivalent combination of education and
experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Thorough knowledge of sports, crafts, games and group recreation activities, and participant needs and interests. Thorough knowledge of the principles and
objectives of parks and recreation administration, including capital improvement programming. Thorough knowledge of marketing principles and practices.
